What is Reiki Healing?
Reiki is a Japanese word pronounced 'Ray-Key'. 'Rei' is defined as Universal Life Giving, 'Ki' is defined as Energy. Reiki is a hands-on healing method that works on our physical, mental, spiritual and emotional levels. It is a simple, effective and safe way of promoting healing, relaxation and well-being; supporting the body's natural ability to heal itself. It is free from any religion, belief system or dogma, making it accessible to all. Reiki theorises that illness is the result of imbalance within the body and its systems. The cause of an illness can often be found at a deeper level of the emotional, mental or spiritual aspects. The beauty of Reiki is that it will go to the root cause of an illness or condition and heal on that level before the more obvious symptoms may be dealt with.
Reiki is an intelligent energy, it balances and harmonises and it goes wherever it is needed. The energy is transmitted simply by the practitioner placing their hands on the person receiving the energy. If an area is lacking in energy or has too much, the area is not balanced and there exists the potential for illness and disease. In a balanced state, the mind, body and spirit can function in harmony, for the greater good of the whole person.

What are the benefits of Reiki?

Is Reiki Safe?
Reiki is completely safe and will enhance any other form of treatment, medicine or natural therapy.

What can I expect from a session?
Fully clothed, you lie comfortably on a purpose-built couch, in a room with a quiet and soothing atmosphere.
The practitioner's hands are firstly placed lightly on or near the Chakras which are centres of energy in your body and then on other areas requiring healing. You may experience heat, tingling, weightlessness and other sensations as the energy flows through you. Most people enjoy a profound sense of calm, peace and relaxation, often drifting into a deep sleep. Many then leave feeling energised; often lasting until well after the session has ended. All you need is the desire to be healed!

How Do I learn Reiki?
Anyone can learn Reiki as long as they have an honest desire to learn and work with Reiki for their personal greater good and the greater good of the universe. To learn Reiki you must be attuned in person by a Reiki Master - a person who has themselves learnt all the levels of Reiki and has spent a great deal of time healing themselves and others and accumulating experience of Reiki that is then passed on to you.

How many Reiki Levels or Degrees are there and what do they mean?
There are 3 levels or degrees of Reiki. each involves the passing of attunements which awaken and amplify our natural healing channel. This encourages the acceleration of physical, mental, spiritual and emotional growth. The process is simple and requires very little intellectual capability. Reiki is a wonderful healing energy and should not be misused or abused.

First Degree
Reiki 1 is for people who wish to learn how to heal themselves and others, but do not wish to become a practitioner. It is the basic healing attunement.

Second Degree
Reiki 2 is for people who:
have completed Reiki 1
have used Reiki on themselves and others for a length of time
wish to renew and deepen their commitment to Reiki
wish to receive and learn how to use some of the symbols revealed to Dr Usui
learn how to send distant healing
may wish to become Reiki practitioners

Reiki 3 & Master Degree
This Degree of Reiki is for people who:
have completed Reiki 2
have used Reiki on themselves and others regularly and for a substantial length of time
wish to renew and deepen their commitment to Reiki
wish to increase the power of healing
wish to receive and learn how to use further symbols revealed to Dr. Usui

The Reiki Master Degree is for those who also wish to teach and attune others.

How do I Choose a Reiki Master?
Choosing your Reiki Master is an important decision. It is not like choosing a tin of beans from a shelf in a supermarket - think of it more like choosing a house in which you wish to spend the rest of your life. It is a choice that can affect your everyday life; your comfort; your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being.Take time choosing your Master.
Establish contact by writing or talking to them at length about your reasons for wanting to learn Reiki.
By talking to you in detail, your chosen Master will determine whether or not you are ready to learn Reiki.
Ask them lots of questions regarding their experience of working with Reiki
You are embarking on a life-changing path along which your Master will guide you. You will hopefully develop a warm and lasting friendship that will be of value to you both.
Remember, it is just as important to feel that they are the right Master for you as it is for them to feel that it is right to accept you as their pupil.
